Kings Beach & Tahoe Vista
Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista are the border towns at the eastern edge of California before you cross over to the Nevada state line.
Kings Beach is named after card shark Joe King, who won the town site from George Whittell nearly a century before poker had a cult cable-TV following. Kings Beach is kick back, in fact, this stretch of North Lake Tahoe wrote the book on mellow kick back. Kings Beach stands in the sun’s path from early morning into the p.m., with a signature downtown public beach plus hip shops, restaurants, and side-street vendors. Hwy. 267 spills into Hwy. 28 here, too, presenting skiers/boarders insta-options to the North Shore’s Big 12 Lake Tahoe ski resorts. The Old Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach hosted Bing Crosby’s first “Crosby” tournament in 1935. The nearby Northshore Casinos have a storied past including Cal Neva once owned by Frank Sinatra. Rumored to have stored contraband liquor during Prohibition in this area you can still find boat houses with gun ports guarding the over the water smuggling operations.
Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista generally have more modest home prices but can still reach up to luxury level prices. There is usually a good inventory of homes for sale in Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista.
