Homewood

Homewood is a vibrant community of homes from small cabins to luxury lakefront estates.  One of the oldest communities in Tahoe dating back to the Civil War!  Located on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe the several bays that make up Homewood are on the windward shore making the water in Homewood calmer than locations on the Northshore.  “Water ski on the calm waters of Homewood and Surf the waves in Kings Beach!”  Two marinas serve boaters in Homewood with launching, fuel and food.  Lake Tahoe’s original marina and the first marina to have gas available at the dock in the early 1900’s is Obexer’s Marina still owned by the Obexer family.

Winter means skiing at Homewood ski resort.  Two older family ski resorts were combined to make Homewood Ski Area the Westshore treasure that it is. Homewood Ski Area is the largest single land owner in Tahoe encompassing about 1260 acres and eight lifts.  Powder glade runs, steep face shots and a circuitous beginner route from top to bottom attracts advanced and beginner skiers.

Homewood is a much sought after address well known in the Bay Area as the place to be in Tahoe.  There is usually a good inventory of homes for sale in Homewood.
